The Transport of Artworks: More Than Just Physical Movement, a Precise and Respectful Care at Every Phase
Recently, at EnviArte, we had the opportunity to manage the transportation of Concha García’s pieces for her exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid. This process, covering both the initial transfer from her studio to the museum and the final return to the studio, required detailed logistics and a profound understanding of the artwork.
Concha García: Art that Explores Fragility and Silence
Concha García is a sculptor recognized for her ability to convey profound themes such as contemporary unease, human vulnerability, and silence in a hyperconnected society. Series like *Relatos del mal_estar* and *Desvelos del alma* use materials such as metals and natural fibers, embodying both strength and fragility. This unique blend of concepts and materials meant each piece needed to be handled with the utmost respect and care, as their transport and handling required techniques that preserved both their structure and their message.
From Studio to Museum: Collaboration with the Artist and Ensured Safe Transport
The first stage of the project was transporting Concha García’s works from her studio to the Museum of Decorative Arts. Concha personally packed each piece in her studio, using specific materials that reflected her understanding of the protective needs of her works. Our team collected these packed pieces and transported them safely to the museum, utilizing appropriate restraint and cushioning techniques inside our truck. Although a specific temperature control was not necessary for this particular transfer, every precaution was taken to avoid vibrations and ensure a safe journey, maintaining a stable environment inside the vehicle. Upon arrival at the museum, we carefully coordinated the unloading of each piece, working closely with the museum’s installation team to ensure the exhibition reflected Concha’s artistic vision.
